Discussion of a Master’s Thesis on the Views of Al-Kisā’ī
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Fallujah, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, and under the supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Abdul-Muhterem, the public defense of the Master’s thesis of the student Duha Ahmed Abdullah (Department of Arabic Language – College of Islamic Sciences / University of Fallujah) was held on Thursday morning, 29/1/2026, in the Central Hall of the College of Islamic Sciences.
The thesis was entitled:
“The Views of Al-Kisā’ī (d. 189 AH) in Al-Suyūṭī’s Hamʿ al-Hawāmiʿ (d. 911 AH): A Grammatical Study.”
The examination committee consisted of the following professors:
- Prof. Dr. Mohammed Hadi Mohammed – Chair
- Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Rahman Hamid – Member
- Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Sami Naseef – Member
- Prof. Dr. Mohammed Abdul Dhiab – Member and Supervisor
Objectives of the Thesis:
The thesis aims to identify the grammatical views of Al-Kisā’ī as presented by Al-Suyūṭī in Hamʿ al-Hawāmiʿ, to study them grammatically, and to compare them with the views of Al-Kisā’ī’s contemporaries, predecessors, and successors, as well as to clarify their significance as they represent an aspect of the Kufan grammatical school.
Key Findings:
The study reached a number of conclusions, most notably the diversity of the grammatical views attributed by Al-Suyūṭī to the grammarian Al-Kisā’ī in Hamʿ al-Hawāmiʿ. Moreover, these views constitute fundamental pillars of the Kufan grammatical school, which grants them considerable scholarly importance.
After an extensive discussion by the members of the examination committee, the thesis was approved with a grade of Pass.
