Date of Establishment:
The College of Islamic Sciences in Fallujah was established in the academic year 2008/2009. Its foundation began with the Department of Sharia within the College of Law in Fallujah, which was founded in 2006. After the department’s success and increasing student enrollment, the university presidency and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research approved the establishment of the College of Islamic Sciences/Fallujah for the academic year 2008/2009, under official letter No. (4195) dated 6/5/2008.
Today, the college comprises several specialized academic departments:
- Department of Sharia
- Department of Arabic Language
- Department of the Qur’an and its Sciences
- Department of Hadith and its Sciences
- Department of Islamic Financial and Banking Transactions
In 2016, evening studies were introduced for the Departments of Sharia and Arabic Language. In the 2019–2020 academic year, evening studies were also introduced for the Departments of Qur’an and its Sciences and Hadith and its Sciences.
Postgraduate Studies:
- A Master’s program in the Department of Sharia was launched in the academic year 2017/2018.
- A Master’s program in the Arabic Language Department (Language Branch) was launched in 2020/2021.
- A Master’s program in the Arabic Language Department (Literature Branch) was launched in 2021/2022.
- A Ph.D. program in the Department of Sharia was launched in 2021/2022.
- A High Diploma program in “Moderation and Balance” was launched in the Department of Hadith and its Sciences by University Order No. (1271 on 14/4/2021).
- A Master’s program in the Department of Hadith and its Sciences was launched by University Order No. (2534 on 4/7/2022).
- A Master’s program in the Department of the Qur’an and its Sciences was launched by University Order No. (2533 on 4/7/2022).
Reasons for Establishment:
The college was founded to meet the community's need for Islamic sciences and to study religious sciences through a balanced, academic methodology. This is aimed at countering extremism and blind fanaticism, promoting a culture of coexistence, moderation, and acceptance of diverse opinions within our province and beloved country.
Teaching Staff:
As of 2023, the college has a total of 90 academic staff members:
- 31 in the Department of Sharia
- 28 in the Department of Arabic Language
- 15 in the Department of the Qur’an and its Sciences
- 16 in the Department of Hadith and its Sciences
Administrative Staff:
The college's administrative and technical staff includes 36 employees across various specializations, distributed among the college’s administrative units for the year 2023.
Students:
- Total number of students for the academic year 2021/2022: 749 (morning and evening studies).
- Total number of students for the academic year 2022/2023: 720 (morning and evening studies).
