Discussion of a master’s thesis on the Topics of Words in the Book “Fath al-Allam”
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Fallujah, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, and under the supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Abdul, the public defense of the master’s thesis submitted by the student Zahraa Abbas Hammadi, from the Department of Sharia – College of Islamic Sciences / University of Fallujah, was held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in the main hall of the College.
The thesis is entitled:
“The Topics of Words in the Book Fath al-‘Allam bi Sharh al-A‘lam bi Ahadith al-Ahkam by Shaykh al-Islam Zakariya al-Ansari (d. 926 AH) – An Applied Usul (Principles of Jurisprudence) Study.”
The discussion committee consisted of the following esteemed professors:

Objectives of the Thesis:
This study aims to examine the topics of words in the book Fath al-‘Allam bi Sharh al-A‘lam bi Ahadith al-Ahkam by Shaykh al-Islam Zakariya al-Ansari (may Allah have mercy on him), and to investigate the theoretical issues of the science of Usul al-Fiqh (Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence) contained in this work.
Key Findings:
The study reached several conclusions, the most important of which is that Shaykh al-Islam Zakariya al-Ansari (may Allah have mercy on him) paid great attention to the application of the linguistic indications of words in his reasoning based on the Prophetic hadiths. This methodological application had a significant impact on deriving legal rulings from the purified Sunnah.
After an in-depth discussion by the members of the committee, the thesis was approved with a “Pass with Distinction” grade.
