Master’s Thesis Defense
Under the patronage of Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, President of University of Fallujah, and under the supervision and follow-up of Mohammed Jassim Abd, the public defense of the Master’s thesis submitted by the student Sajaa Mohammed Lahij was held on the morning of Sunday, 8 March 2026, at the Department of Arabic Language – College of Islamic Sciences / University of Fallujah. The thesis was entitled:
“Praise of Judges in the Poetry of Ibn Sana al-Mulk (d. 608 AH): An Artistic Study,” and the defense took place in the Central Hall of the College of Islamic Sciences.
The examination committee consisted of the following professors:
- Prof. Shamil Ubaid Dera – Chair
- Assist. Prof. Sundus Qasim Abdullah – Member
- Assist. Prof. Marwa Fadil Hamad – Member
- Assist. Prof. Farhan Mohammed Farhan – Member and Supervisor
Objectives of the Thesis:
The thesis aims to study the poetic texts composed by Ibn Sana al-Mulk in praise of judges during his era, and to examine the poetic themes and artistic features they contain, particularly with regard to poetic language, rhythm, and imagery.
Key Findings:
The thesis reached several findings, most notably the diversity of laudatory poetic themes addressed in the poems composed by Ibn Sana al-Mulk in praising judges, despite his frequent reliance on a traditional approach in poetic meters and imagery.
After an extensive discussion by the members of the examination committee, the thesis was accepted with the grade: Pass.
