Master’s Thesis Defense on Thematic Unity in the Sections of Al-Mufassal
Under the patronage of the President of Fallujah University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, and under the supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Abdul, the public defense of the Master’s student Aya Abdul Sattar Khalaf, Department of Qur’an and Its Sciences – College of Islamic Sciences / University of Fallujah, took place on the morning of Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Her thesis is entitled:
“Thematic Unity in the Sections of Al-Mufassal in the Holy Qur’an.”
The defense was held in the Central Hall of the College of Islamic Sciences.
The examining committee consisted of the following professors:
- Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abdul Sattar Shallal – Chairman
- Prof. Dr. Ali Shukr Dawood – Member
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Junaid Mahmoud Jassim – Member
- Prof. Dr. Qutaiba Fawzi Jassam – Member and Supervisor
Objectives of the Thesis:
This study aims to demonstrate the thematic unity in the middle sections of Al-Mufassal in the Holy Qur’an, uncovering the aspects and themes contained therein, and highlighting the miraculous nature of the Qur’an through its thematic unity.
Main Findings:
The thesis reached several conclusions, the most significant of which is that thematic unity is widely present in the surahs of the Qur’an, reflecting the coherence between its verses and diverse themes. The Qur’an undoubtedly represents a well-structured, integrated composition. Moreover, the study of thematic unity in the surahs of the Qur’an contributes to a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the Holy Qur’an.
After an extensive discussion by the examining committee, the thesis was accepted with the grade of “Pass with Distinction.”
