Master’s Thesis Defense
Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Fallujah, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, and under the supervision and follow-up of the respected Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Abdul, the public defense of the Master's thesis submitted by the student Amal Zaki Shakir from the Department of Sharia – College of Islamic Sciences / University of Fallujah, took place on the morning of Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
The thesis is entitled:
"Jurisprudential Issues with Two Opinions According to the Shafi'is in the Book Al-Bayan by Al-Imrani (d. 558 AH) – From the Book of Mortgage to the Chapter on Bankruptcy and Their Impact on Contemporary Fatwas: A Comparative Study."
The defense was held in the main hall of the College of Islamic Sciences.
The discussion committee was composed of the following esteemed professors:

- Asst. Prof. Dr. Amjad Murakib Dawood – Member

Objectives of the Thesis:
This thesis aims to present the views and schools of thought of jurists regarding issues related to mortgage, with comparative analysis between them. It also aims to document and establish the rulings of mortgage based on the authentic texts of the Qur’an and Sunnah, in order to serve the public interest by guiding financial transactions according to Islamic legal standards, thereby protecting society from injustice and usury.
Key Findings:
Among the key findings of the thesis is that Imam Al-Imrani – may Allah have mercy on him – is regarded as one of the prominent scholars of the Shafi'i school, as evidenced by his writings in which he clarified what Muslims need to know regarding their religious affairs. Furthermore, Al-Bayan is considered one of the most important and precise jurisprudential references in the Shafi'i school, particularly in addressing the diversity of opinions within the madhhab.
Following an in-depth discussion by the committee members, the thesis was accepted with the grade: “Pass with Fulfillment.”
