Objectives of the Dissertation:
This dissertation aims to identify the jurisprudential issues with two opinions in the Hanbali school as recorded in Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudamah (d. 620 AH) in the Book of Purification, analyze their impact on contemporary fatwas, and study them within a comparative jurisprudential framework.
Key Findings:
One of the most significant findings of the dissertation is that Al-Mughni by Ibn Qudamah is considered one of the most important and authoritative works, not only in Hanbali jurisprudence but also in comparative jurisprudence in general. Reviewing it broadens the horizons of the student of knowledge, strengthens his juristic capacity, and enables him to adopt whichever opinion he finds most convincing—based on knowledge and guidance.
After an extensive discussion by the examining committee, the dissertation was accepted with the grade of “Pass with Distinction.”
