Master’s Thesis Defense on the Principles of Jurisprudence in the Book Al-Lubāb fī al-Jamʿ bayna al-Sunnah wa-al-Kitāb
Under the patronage of the esteemed President of the University of Fallujah, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Suleiman Hamad, and under the supervision and follow-up of the esteemed Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Abdul, the public defense of the Master’s thesis of the student Husaina Basheer Hamoud, Department of Sharia – College of Islamic Sciences / University of Fallujah, was held on the morning of Monday, August 18, 2025, for her thesis entitled:
“The Principles of Jurisprudence in the Book Al-Lubāb fī al-Jamʿ bayna al-Sunnah wa-al-Kitāb by Imam Jamal al-Din al-Manbiji (d. 686 AH) – A Study and Application.”
The defense took place in the central hall of the College of Islamic Sciences.
The discussion committee consisted of the following professors:
- Prof. Dr. Saleh Mohammed Saleh – Chair
- Prof. Dr. Ahmad Jassim Hammadi – Member
- Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Shams al-Din Abdul-Amir – Member
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Adel Shafi – Member and Supervisor
Objectives of the Thesis:
This thesis aims to compile the jurisprudential principles mentioned by Imam Jamal al-Din al-Manbiji (d. 686 AH) in his book Al-Lubāb fī al-Jamʿ bayna al-Sunnah wa-al-Kitāb, and to analyze these principles through an applied jurisprudential study that demonstrates their role in guiding juristic differences.
Key Findings of the Thesis:
The study reached several conclusions, the most important of which is that Imam al-Manbiji was precise in his employment of these jurisprudential principles, and that most of those he relied upon are considered fundamental to his established school of thought.
After an extensive discussion of the thesis by the committee members, the thesis was accepted with the grade: Pass with Distinction (Muwafiq – Mustawfī).
