Thesis Objectives:
This thesis aims to shed light on chaste and platonic love poetry in the works of both Antarah al-Absi and Qays ibn al-Mulawwah, in order to reveal the features of creativity in their poetry, the points of convergence and divergence between them, and the degree of variation in their achievement of literary creativity and poetic aesthetics.
Findings of the Study:
The thesis concluded with several findings, the most important of which is that the love poetry of both poets is characterized, for the most part, by clarity, tenderness, chastity, and elevation above physical description. However, their modes of poetic imagery differ, due to variations in environment, era, and the poets’ personal experiences.
After an extensive discussion by the examining committee members, the thesis was approved with the grade “Pass with Distinction.”
