Master’s Thesis Defense
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Fallujah, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, and under the supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Abdul, the public discussion of the master’s thesis submitted by the student Nesreen Abdullah Toufi, Department of Arabic Language – College of Islamic Sciences / University of Fallujah, was held on the morning of Tuesday, August 25, 2025, in the central hall of the College of Islamic Sciences.
Her thesis is entitled: “Cultural References in the Diwan of Al-Abla Al-Baghdadi.”
The discussion committee consisted of the following professors:

Thesis Objectives:
This thesis aims to examine the poetic texts in which the poet Al-Abla Al-Baghdadi employed various cultural references in his Diwan, and to reveal the literary, aesthetic, and intellectual dimensions achieved by these references in his poetic output.
Study Findings:
The thesis reached several findings, the most important of which is the diversity of cultural references from which the poet drew in his poetry, including religious, historical, social, and literary sources, as well as the variety of methods he used to incorporate them into his poetic texts.
Following an extensive discussion by the committee members, the thesis was accepted with the grade of “Pass with Distinction.”
