Master’s Thesis Defense on Safwan ibn ‘Amr al-Saksaki
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Fallujah, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, and under the supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Abdul, the public defense of the master’s thesis submitted by the student Ghufran Raed Ayiz from the Department of Hadith and Its Sciences – College of Islamic Sciences / University of Fallujah, was held on Thursday morning الموافق 12/2/2026 in the Central Hall of the College of Islamic Sciences.
Her thesis, entitled: “The Narrations of Safwan ibn ‘Amr al-Saksaki in the Nine Books – An Analytical Study,” was examined by a committee composed of the following professors:
- Prof. Dr. Samer Sultan Mohammed – Chair
- Prof. Dr. Idris Askar Hassan – Member
- Prof. Dr. Saadoun Mohammed Jawad – Member
- Prof. Dr. Sarmad Fouad Shafiq – Member and Supervisor
Objectives of the Thesis:
The thesis aims to collect the narrations of the Tābiʿī Safwan ibn ‘Amr al-Saksaki (may Allah have mercy on him) from the Nine Books, arrange them according to the juristic classification, while observing the methodological arrangement of the hadiths in accordance with the approaches of the nine Hadith scholars, and then to study them analytically.
Key Findings:
The study reached several conclusions, the most prominent of which is the diversity of the narrations of Imam Safwan ibn ‘Amr al-Saksaki (may Allah have mercy on him). These narrations were characterized by comprehensiveness and inclusiveness, covering all aspects of religion, including acts of worship, transactions, virtues, and other subjects.
After an extensive discussion by the members of the examination committee, the thesis was approved with the grade of “Pass.”
