Master’s Thesis Defense on the Qur’anic Citation in Al-Misbah al-Munir
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Fallujah, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Suleiman Hamad, and under the supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Jassim Abdul, the public defense of the Master’s thesis submitted by the student Ahmed Tahseen Hussein from the Department of Arabic Language – College of Islamic Sciences / University of Fallujah, was held on Tuesday morning, 17/2/2026, in the Central Hall of the College of Islamic Sciences.
The thesis was entitled: “The Qur’anic Citation in the Dictionary Al-Misbah al-Munir by Al-Fayyumi (d. 770 AH): A Linguistic Study.”
The examination committee consisted of the following professors:
- Prof. Dr. Mohammed Khalid Rahhal – Chair
- Prof. Dr. Abdullah Hamid Hussein – Member
- Assist. Prof. Dr. Saad Sabbar Abdulbaqi – Member
- Prof. Dr. Dhafer Okaidi Fathi – Member and Supervisor
Objectives of the Thesis:
This thesis aims to compile the linguistic issues mentioned by Al-Fayyumi in his book Al-Misbah al-Munir for which he cited Qur’anic evidence, and to analyze these Qur’anic citations from their linguistic perspectives.
Main Findings:
The thesis reached several conclusions, most notably the abundance of Qur’anic citations included by Al-Fayyumi in Al-Misbah al-Munir. Al-Fayyumi is considered among the scholars who most frequently relied on Qur’anic evidence to analyze the linguistic issues, questions, and opinions he addressed.
After extensive discussion by the members of the examination committee, the thesis was accepted with a grade of “Pass.”
